Many Australian Senior Citizens Infected Sex Disease
Australia more and more senior citizens are exposed to diseases such as GO genital infections (gonorrhea) and chlamydia, because many of them do not want to make use of condoms or embarrassed to ask about safe sexual behavior.
According to research by the Institute of Family Planning of New South Wales (NSW), cases of chlamydia among Australians aged 40 to 85 years increased 17 percent in the last three years. GO while cases rose 44 percent in the same period.
Smh.com.au website reports Sunday (06/09/2013) cites the agency stated, there are 5,563 cases of chlamydia were reported among those aged over 40 years - 33 people among 100 thousand inhabitants. In 2010, 4733 cases were reported. Her case was mostly among men, with a ratio of 2:1.
According to Deborah Bateson former health director KB Institute NSW, compared with the younger group, cases of venereal disease infection is still relatively low, but the rate of acceleration is quite alarming. Bateston states, increasing reports of cases of genital infections among Australian senior citizens also due to the increasing test done because of seniors health campaigns are conducted.
"The most important thing to know is if you are unprotected sexual intercourse with a new partner, immediately do the test, no matter how old you are, because this genital infection regardless of age," Bateson said.
There is the possibility of genital infection has occurred because these seniors start their sexual life before the campaign for the use of condoms in preventing HIV began in 1987 in Australia. Another thing is the old woman who is not afraid to become pregnant will not urge the use of condoms.
According to a survey conducted RSVP dating, single senior citizens - aged 51 years and over - were more likely to have sex on the first introduction, so that the greater the potential for genital infection.
Heidi Zuegn, store owners who sell sexual devices, MaXXXBlack said that "they are coming of many senior citizens are asked about sexual issues ranging from sexual health in general, to the technical problems, and of course how to improve the products of their sexual lives.
"There seems to think that we're never too old to try something new. Yet of course there are risks, something that had not known or not they experienced when they were young." Zuegn said.
